The Secret Key allows LTV Numbers to decrypt your webhook payloads

  1. Log into ClickBank

    • If you logged in using a ClickBank master account, open a sub account and complete the steps below. Then repeat the whole process for each sub account.

  2. In ClickBank's top navigation bar, click on Vendor Settings

  3. On the My Site page, scroll down to the Advanced Tools section

  4. Copy the Secret Key for later use

    • Note: a ClickBank integration is in the works that will improve this process

Set Up Webhooks

Webhooks pull your sales data in real time and should be set up first before importing historical sales data to avoid gaps in your data

  1. In LTV Numbers' side navigation bar, go to the "Settings" tab

  2. Click the "Add ClickBank Integration" button in the "ClickBank Integrations" section

  3. Paste the Secret Key from the previous section into LTV Numbers

  4. Enter the Account Nickname and click Submit to create the ClickBank integration

  5. Within this newly created ClickBank integration, Copy the Instant Notification URL for later use

  6. In a separate browser window or tab, log into ClickBank

  7. In ClickBank's top navigation bar, click on Vendor Settings

  8. On the My Site page, scroll down to the Advanced Tools section and click Edit

  9. Paste the LTV Numbers Instant Notification URL into an empty "Instant Notification URL" field in ClickBank

    • Note: if your account doesn't have any empty "Instant Notification URL" fields, request another slot from ClickBank support

    • Note: if this is the first time setting up instant notification URLs for your account, you may have to enable them.

  10. Select the latest version (currently version 7.0) in the Version dropdown selector

  11. Click the "Test IPN" button to verify the webhook

  12. Once verified, click the Save Changes button to finalize webhook setup

  13. If you have additional ClickBank accounts, repeat the above steps for each

Historical Sales Data

After setting up webhooks to pull in real time sales data, import your past sales for a complete picture of your data. Note: due to ClickBank's exporting limitations, you may have to subdivide your data and export it in multiple batches. The goal here is to establish a good analysis baseline with at least a year of data. (Older data doesn't necessarily reflect the current state of the business.)

Export Historical Transaction Data From ClickBank Master Account

This is the preferred method of exporting historical data.

  1. In the navigation menus on the left, go to Reporting > Sales> Transactions

  2. Under the Custom Time Period, select the desired date range you wish to export.

    • Note: we suggest exporting at minimum one year of data and ClickBank allows up to a maximum of two years of data to be exported.

  3. Click the download icon and save the file to your computer.

  4. Follow these instructions to import this data into LTV Numbers

Export Historical Transaction Data From ClickBank Sub Accounts

If you cannot export your historical data via the ClickBank master account outlined above, use the method below.

  1. In the ClickBank’s top navigation, bar go to Reporting, then the Transactions page

  2. Export a batch of data by selecting the date range, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Export Options: CSV" link. Save this batch of data to your computer.

    • Note: if there is too much data for ClickBank to export, the "Export Options: CSV" link will not be present. Choose a smaller date range and try again.

    • Note: At the top of the Transactions page, there is usually a link to download all of the previous year’s transactions. If it is present, it's a convenient shortcut to export that data.

  3. Repeat the above step as necessary to export the desired data you wish to import and analyze in LTV Numbers.

  4. Follow these instructions to import this data into LTV Numbers

ClickBank Limitations & Notes

  • LTV Numbers does not support analysis for sales made as an affiliate (through another vendor) on ClickBank because ClickBank does not provide customer information to the affiliate. And since we can't assign the revenue to a particular customer, we can't do any analysis like compute their specific LTV.

  • ClickBank Master CSVs do not contain product names, only the item number. However LTV Numbers will automatically update to replace the item number with the product name once a webhook sale for that product is made. Until that happens, the product number will appear as the product name.

  • How to make ClickBank export match the ClickBank UI and LTV Numbers UI:

    • Match the date range of the export in the ClickBank Dashboard and LTV Numbers analysis report.

    • Match the Total Earnings amount reported in ClickBank by filtering the Transaction Type column to include only Initial Sale, Order Bump, Rebill, and Upsell lines.

    • Match the Net Sales by Amount reported in ClickBank with the total Your Earnings by filtering the Transaction Type column to include only Chargeback, Initial Sale, Order Bump, Rebill, Refund, and Upsell lines.

    • Match the net revenue amount in LTV Numbers with the total Your Earnings by filtering the Role on Transaction column to only Seller in addition to filtering the Transaction Type column to include only Chargeback, Initial Sale, Order Bump, Rebill, Refund, and Upsell lines.
