# LTV Numbers

## What is LTV Numbers?

LTV Numbers is software analytics platform built from the ground up to help you understand your customer lifetime value, in **great detail.....**

Our powerful LTV analysis enables us to help businesses scale faster and more profitably.

Understanding the lifetime value of a customer and how it changes over time is critically important to determining how much you can spend to acquire a customer, or how much you can charge in affiliate commissions.&#x20;

Being able to see how LTV changes based on product, funnel, traffic source, and affiliate can be a difference maker between scaling efficiently and profitably, and getting stuck not knowing where to put your money and attention.&#x20;

The vast majority of businesses have no visibility whatsoever into their true customer LTV. The ones that do have a massive advantage over their competitors, because the business that can spend the most to acquire a customer wins. Solving this problem used to take months or years and hundreds of thousands of dollars paid to developers and data scientists.&#x20;

**LTV Numbers is a fully done for you LTV analytics solution that comes with actionable guidance, and can be up and running in a matter of days, starting from a fully populated dashboard with all historical data loaded in and ready to be acted upon.**

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/d9W0cIWPuzI>" %}

1. [Log into ClickBank](https://accounts.clickbank.com/login.htm)
   * If you logged in using a ClickBank master account, open a sub account and complete the steps below. Then repeat the whole process for each sub account.
2. In ClickBank's top navigation bar, click on Vendor Settings
3. On the My Site page, scroll down to the Advanced Tools section
4. Copy the Secret Key for later use
   * Note: a ClickBank integration is in the works that will improve this process

## Set Up Webhooks

Webhooks pull your sales data in real time and should be set up first before importing historical sales data to avoid gaps in your data

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/Vpm_Bs1wRts>" %}

1. [Log into LTV Numbers](https://app.ltvnumbers.com)
2. In LTV Numbers' side navigation bar, go to the "Settings" tab
3. Click the "Add ClickBank Integration" button in the "ClickBank Integrations" section
4. Paste the Secret Key from the [previous section](#webhook-secret-key) into LTV Numbers
5. Enter the Account Nickname and click Submit to create the ClickBank integration&#x20;
6. Within this newly created ClickBank integration, Copy the Instant Notification URL for later use
7. In a separate browser window or tab, [log into ClickBank](https://accounts.clickbank.com/login.htm)
8. In ClickBank's top navigation bar, click on Vendor Settings
9. On the My Site page, scroll down to the Advanced Tools section and click Edit
10. Paste the LTV Numbers Instant Notification URL into an empty "Instant Notification URL" field in ClickBank
    * Note: if your account doesn't have any empty "Instant Notification URL" fields, request another slot from ClickBank support
    * Note: if this is the first time setting up instant notification URLs for your account, you may have to enable them.
11. Select the latest version (currently version 7.0) in the Version dropdown selector
12. Click the "Test IPN" button to verify the webhook
13. Once verified, click the Save Changes button to finalize webhook setup
14. If you have additional ClickBank accounts, repeat the above steps for each

## Historical Sales Data

After setting up webhooks to pull in real time sales data, import your past sales for a complete picture of your data. Note: due to ClickBank's exporting limitations, you may have to subdivide your data and export it in multiple batches. The goal here is to establish a good analysis baseline with at least a year of data. (Older data doesn't necessarily reflect the current state of the business.)

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/wKjpJzRqzv4>" %}

### Export Historical Transaction Data From ClickBank Master Account

This is the preferred method of exporting historical data.

1. Log into your [ClickBank master account dashboard here](https://accounts.clickbank.com/master/dashboard.html)
2. In the navigation menus on the left, go to Reporting > Sales> Transactions&#x20;
3. Under the Custom Time Period, select the desired date range you wish to export.
   * Note: we suggest exporting at minimum one year of data and ClickBank allows up to a maximum of two years of data to be exported.&#x20;
4. Click the download icon and save the file to your computer.
5. Follow [these instructions](#import-clickbank-historical-data-into-ltv-numbers) to import this data into LTV Numbers

### Export Historical Transaction Data From ClickBank Sub Accounts

If you cannot [export your historical data via the ClickBank master account](#export-historical-transaction-data-from-clickbank-master-account) outlined above, use the method below.

1. In the ClickBank’s top navigation, bar go to Reporting, then the Transactions page
2. Export a batch of data by selecting the date range, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Export Options: CSV" link. Save this batch of data to your computer.
   * Note: if there is too much data for ClickBank to export, the "Export Options: CSV" link will not be present. Choose a smaller date range and try again.
   * Note: At the top of the Transactions page, there is usually a link to download all of the previous year’s transactions. If it is present, it's a convenient shortcut to export that data.
3. Repeat the above step as necessary to export the desired data you wish to import and analyze in LTV Numbers.
4. Follow [these instructions](#import-clickbank-historical-data-into-ltv-numbers) to import this data into LTV Numbers

### Import ClickBank Historical Data Into LTV Numbers

1. Follow the instructions for [Uploading Data into LTV Numbers](/misc-instructions/uploading-data-into-ltv-numbers) to upload your ClickBank Sales

## ClickBank Limitations & Notes

* LTV Numbers does not support analysis for sales made as an affiliate (through another vendor) on ClickBank because ClickBank does not provide customer information to the affiliate. And since we can't assign the revenue to a particular customer, we can't do any analysis like compute their specific LTV.
* ClickBank Master CSVs do not contain product names, only the item number. However LTV Numbers will automatically update to replace the item number with the product name once a webhook sale for that product is made. Until that happens, the product number will appear as the product name.
* How to make ClickBank export match the ClickBank UI and LTV Numbers UI:
  * Match the date range of the export in the ClickBank Dashboard and LTV Numbers analysis report.
  * Match the Total Earnings amount reported in ClickBank by filtering the Transaction Type column to include only Initial Sale, Order Bump, Rebill, and Upsell lines.&#x20;
  * Match the Net Sales by Amount reported in ClickBank with the total Your Earnings by filtering the Transaction Type column to include only Chargeback, Initial Sale, Order Bump, Rebill, Refund, and Upsell lines.&#x20;
  * Match the net revenue amount in LTV Numbers with the total Your Earnings by filtering the Role on Transaction column to only Seller in addition to filtering the Transaction Type column to include only Chargeback, Initial Sale, Order Bump, Rebill, Refund, and Upsell lines.

   * Note: this process may take some time to complete

## Clickfunnels Limitations And Notes

* LTV Numbers' reported revenue often does not match Clickfunnels' Funnel Stats. We've seen as much as a 25% discrepancy
  * Clickfunnels Funnel Stats shows gross revenue which **does not** include refunds while LTV Numbers reports revenue which **does** include refunds
  * LTV Numbers is based on the real data of Clickfunnels' sales exports. In other words, the funnel stats do not line up with the source of truth
    * To verify for yourself, export a funnels' sales records, total up the revenue, and compare to the funnel stats page
* With subscription products, Clickfunnels will report revenue that's expected from a charge after e.g. a 7 day trial but will report that expected revenue on the day the trial started as if a real payment occurred even if there was no payment. Furthermore, if that trial is cancelled or never actually paid, Clickfunnels will not update the expected revenue. This is one way that Clickfunnels reporting is inaccurate.
  * LTV Numbers data is based on real payments and will process subscription revenue from the platform where the payment actually took place, such as Stripe.
* If there are product names appearing in LTV Numbers' list of funnels, these are from the sales of a deleted funnel
  * To remove the product names, either add the corresponding funnel in LTV Numbers' Settings or contact us to remove them from the funnel list for you
  * This is caused by Clickfunnels' historical data export containing funnel ids but omitting funnel names. Since the product name is all the information available, it is used in place of the funnel name
* Note that Clickfunnels exports do not contain refunds so any historical refunds prior to setup with LTV Numbers (specifically webhooks) will not be reflected in LTV Numbers.&#x20;

### Clickfunnels Limitations with NMI

* When using NMI as a payment processor, much of the metadata from a historical sale is lost and cannot be recovered due to the data structure of NMI and Clickfunnels but is present in webhook data
  * To be more precise, Clickfunnels' historical data exports contain an "Additional Info" field which contains numerous values such as UTMs, standard Clickfunnels values like Clickfunnels affiliate IDs and UVIDs, and perhaps other custom URL parameters. Strangely, the contents and format of this "Additional Info" field vary depending on the payment processor and are entirely missing for NMI. Thus this information is lost.

### Clickfunnels Limitations with PayPal

* LTV Numbers must use the Clickfunnels product information because the Clickfunnels PayPal subscription products are not associated with PayPal plans
* PayPal v1 Buttons:
  * LTV Numbers can receive subscriptions if the Clickfunnels 3rd party products are set up properly. See [setup instructions here](https://help.clickfunnels.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006272874-Accepting-Payments-in-ClickFunnels-With-a-PayPal-Button). Be sure to include the Clickfunnels notify url in the PayPal button advanced settings.
  * If you [integrate LTV Numbers directly with PayPal](/data/paypal) in addition to Clickfunnels, transactions through the PayPal v1 button will be duplicated as they will be ingested into LTV Numbers from both PayPal and Clickfunnels.
  * Note that while [Clickfunnels supports PayPal v1 buttons](https://help.clickfunnels.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006338453-Add-A-PayPal-Button-To-Your-Page), they recommend the [PayPal v2 integration](https://help.clickfunnels.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006272934).
* For PayPal v2 integrations with a paid trial, the initial payment will be associated with the Clickfunnels funnel, but the subsequent rebills will not because there is no way to tie the rebills to the paid trial.
* For Clickfunnels CSV PayPal subscription lines of historical data, if the subscription ID is prefixed with something other than "I-" (such as "PAYID-") then this is a one-off paid trial payment that needs to be formatted directly. The rebills that come in will not be able to be associated with the funnel.

## Done For You Service

If you would like our team to handle your account setup, data sync, and data validation for you, then please discuss this with us. We will have you create a user for <secure@ltvnumbers.com> and grant us access.

## Keap Limitations And Notes

* Due to Keap's limitations, UTM parameters can only be associated with contact records and not with payments, orders, or rebills. Therefore LTV Numbers can only provide UTM breakdowns and filtering for lead attribution analysis and not sale or rebill analysis.
* Keap does not have a concept of sales funnels so LTV Numbers bins all Keap sales into a generic funnel called 'Keap Funnels'
* Keap orders can be paid or unpaid. LTV Numbers only accepts orders that are paid.
* Keap refunds are handled as standalone transactions with no indication as to what product or order item was refunded. Thus LTV Numbers handles refunds by assigning them all to a generic 'Keap Refund' product
* Due to limitations with Keap, LTV Numbers only receives referral partner IDs for affiliate sales so affiliate names will appear as the referral parner ID.
* Keap does not assign product IDs to products of the type 'special product' as they are intended for internal purposes. LTV Numbers handles these by binning all special products except for shipping in a generic catch-all product called 'Keap Special Product'. Shipping is binned in the 'Special: Shipping' product.
  * Some examples of special products:
    * Special: Product
    * Special: Category
    * Special: Shipping
    * Special: Free Trial Days
    * Special: Order Total

# Konnektive

   * Note: This value must be set properly now to ensure that times are interpreted correctly. Incorrectly setting this value can result in payment times being incorrectly offset from the true value. Changing this property later can corrupt your data unless you set the date range to "All Time" and resync your data.
7. Click "Sync Data"
   * Note: this process may take some time to complete

## Limitations & Notes

* Chargeback dates and times&#x20;
  * LTV Numbers' Refunds amount is calculated by adding up all refunds **and chargebacks** that occurred **within the selected date range**.&#x20;
    * Note: This is how our users and our expert team expect to see this data presented.&#x20;
  * Konnektive's Transaction Summary and Transaction Details reports and exports show chargebacks for **transactions within the selected date range** that were **charged back at any point in time.**&#x20;
    * This is a limitation of Konnektive's handling of chargebacks in their data structure by labeling transactions as charged back, rather than including a chargeback as a transaction with it's own date separate from the transaction.
      * Note: Konnektive handles refunds as separate transactions from the initial purchase so refunds do not have the same problem as chargebacks.&#x20;
  * Thus LTV Numbers' Refunds amount and the amount of Konnektive's Refunds + Chargebacks are not the same.
* Timezones
  * Konnektive shows data in the time zone set in your account settings.
  * LTV Numbers defaults to choosing your local timezone wherever you are using it (which could change while traveling).&#x20;
    * Set the LTV Numbers timezone for your Konnektive integration (to match the timezone of your Konnektive account for example), noting the on screen information to preserve data accuracy.&#x20;
  * Thus to compare LTV Numbers and Konnektive data, you may need to account for timezone differences in your date range selections.&#x20;
* "Partial orders" in Konnektive are like abandon carts - the visitor started filling out the checkout form but did not make a payment or complete their purchase. Therefore no transaction occurred.

## Limitations of PayPal

* All PayPal payments do not have funnel information from the cart platform that PayPal is integrated with. The available information is limited to products that exist inside the PayPal account. This is why we recommend integrating directly with your cart platform and only integrate with PayPal if necessary.
  * Since funnel information for PayPal payments is lost, LTV Numbers will display PayPal payments in a generic "PayPal Payment Processor" funnel
  * For subscriptions that originate in a cart platform (such as Clickfunnels), rebill revenue will not be assigned to the original funnel in LTV Numbers but the revenue will still be processed and appear in the "PayPal Payment Processor" funnel

For limitations of PayPal with Clickfunnels, see [Clickfunnels Limitations with PayPal](/data/clickfunnels#clickfunnels-limitations-with-paypal)

  * SamCart's date range only selects orders that were made during the date range selected
  * LTV Numbers' date range selects payments made during the date range selected, regardless of when the original order was placed
  * This difference comes into play most notably with rebill payments (subscription payments after the initial charge) as SamCart will not include these payments while LTV Numbers will

## ThriveCart and UTMs

Due to limitations with ThriveCart, all past UTM information is lost from the historical sales data and cannot be recovered. But you can start capturing UTMs to enable more in depth traffic analysis going forward. The method of capturing UTMs varies based on how traffic arrives at your ThriveCart checkout page.

### Traffic Direct To ThriveCart Checkout Pages

If you send traffic directly to a ThriveCart checkout page, use the following structure in the links to your ThriveCart checkout pages:

{% code title="ThriveCart URL UTM Structure" %}

```url
mysite.com/some-page?passthrough[utm_source]=my_source&passthrough[utm_medium]=my_medium&passthrough[utm_campaign]=my_campaign&passthrough[utm_content]=my_content&passthrough[utm_term]=my_term
```

{% endcode %}

### Traffic From Landing Pages To ThriveCart Checkout Pages

If you use landing pages that direct traffic to a ThriveCart checkout page, follow the steps below for each landing page to set up the UTM Passthrough Script. This script will automatically convert the links on the landing page into the ThriveCart URL UTM Structure above and update it with the UTMs present from the landing page URL.

1. Navigate to the editor of the landing page that sends traffic to a ThriveCart checkout page
2. Verify this landing page sends traffic to a ThriveCart checkout page as expected
3. Paste the ThriveCart UTM Passthrough Script located below into the \<body> or \<footer> code of the landing page:
   * Note: if necessary, this script can also be placed in the \<head> of the page but this may cause unintended behavior
4. Save the landing page
5. Repeat the steps above for each landing page that sends traffic to a ThriveCart checkout page

{% code title="ThriveCart UTM Passthrough Script" %}

```html
<script src="https://storage.googleapis.com/ltv-numbers-prod/url_parameter_passthrough_to_thrivecart.js?v=x.x.x" defer></script>
```

{% endcode %}

# WooCommerce

Complete the steps below for each store you wish to connect to LTV Numbers

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/jM56AGhwsh4>" %}

## Generate API Key

Connect your WooCommerce account to LTV Numbers by generating an API key and providing the credentials

1. Log into your WooCommerce store
2. Generate an API Key by following the [WooCommerce Generate API Keys instructions here](https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-rest-api/#section-2) and note the additional instructions below as you complete the steps&#x20;
   * **Description:** set to "LTV Numbers" or similar descriptive name for your reference
   * **User:** select your user account
   * **Permissions:** "Read/Write"
     * Note: The Write permission is only used to create a webhook to capture sales in real time
3. Copy these API keys and store them securely as you will need them in the section below
   * Note: the values of the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret can only be accessed immediately after the API Key is created. If you leave the page, the values will no longer be available and a new API Key will need to be created, so save them now.

## Connect To LTV Numbers Via API

Grant LTV Numbers access to your data via the API Key you created in the above steps, then sync your data

1. In a separate browser window or tab, [log into LTV Numbers](https://app.ltvnumbers.com)&#x20;
2. In LTV Numbers’ side navigation bar, go to the "Settings" tab
3. Click the "Connect with WooCommerce" button in the integrations list and fill in the required information:
   * **Store URL:** enter the domain of your store
     * To get this, get the URL of the page when logged into WooCommerce, but only include the domain name ("<https://mystore.com>" or "<https://www.mystore.net>" for example)
   * **Store Name:** you can set this to how you want to identify the store, but it is recommended that you use the name of the store that shows up when logged into WooCommerce in the "Home" section
   * **Consumer Key:** copy the value of the Consumer Key for the API Key created in the previous section&#x20;
   * **Consumer Secret:** copy the value of the Consumer Secret for the API Key created in the previous section&#x20;
4. Click "Connect" to create the integration and be taken into it's settings
   * Note: no data is synced until you complete the steps below
5. To sync your data, pick an appropriate date range to import your existing data, and an appropriate sync frequency to import your data going forward to meet your analysis needs
6. Click "Sync Data"
   * Note: this process may take some time to complete

## WooCommerce Limitations And Notes

* LTV Numbers only includes WooCommerce orders which have actually been paid and does not include pending orders that have not yet been paid.
* WooCommerce data has no way of distinguishing between initial sales and rebills. Thus all revenue will appear in LTV Numbers under "Order Revenue" entirely and not "Rebill Revenue".&#x20;
* Refund amounts are accounted for in LTV Numbers but due to WooCommerce data limitations, the amounts are not applied to specific products so refunds will not appear in product breakdowns.
* Related to the WooCommerce's Reports dashboard:
  * The numbers to the left of the graph on the WooCommerce dashboard are just wrong. If you can figure out how they are calculated, let us know!
    * This is part the reason why we created LTV Numbers in the first place - so you can see numbers that are correct!
  * The WooCommerce orders export and LTV Numbers match each other (when adjusted for timezone). And they both match the light blue line on the WooCommerce dashboard graph (under the hood, they call it "gross sales" but is actually net sales).
  * The WooCommerce dashboard does not actually show the gross revenue anywhere. In other words, it only shows net revenue and calls that gross revenue.
  * WooCommerce data is in the timezone configured in your [WooCommerce general settings](https://managergram.com/wp-admin/options-general.php) (currently New York).
  * LTV Numbers is currently in your local timezone (in a future update, you'll be able to set your preferred timezone).

# Slack Walkthrough

These are the first few steps that you can take when you want to join the LTV Numbers Workspace. Use this workspace to communicate with the team directly and feel free to ask about anything.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/pl-k1WfaTxo>" %}

When you join LTV Numbers for the first time, you will be invited to an LTV Numbers Slack workspace via email.

1. You will receive an invitation from us via email to "work together in Slack". Click on the "Get Started" button in the email.
2. If you don't have a Slack account, enter your work email in the page you get sent to. Following that, enter your 6-character code.
3. Once that's set up, go ahead and "Join Channel" if it's the invitation from LTV Numbers.
4. You can actually download Slack for MacOS to make access more convenient, without needing to sign into your browser.
5. This is going to be your general workspace, but you will see a #ltv-x-company name where 'company' is the name of your company.
6. Introduce yourself and say hi.
7. In the Slack channel, you can mention specific people (using @Name) or mention everyone (using @channel).
8. **(Not in video)** In the description, you will also be able to see a link to book a call with one of our team members assigned to your company. You can use this call to ask whatever questions you had about the tool or steps moving forward. We want to be here to support you in the best way that we can.
   1. To view the description, click on the collapsable arrow in the name of the channel (#ltv-x-company) and the link will be in the description.
   2. If it is not there, tag one of the members in the Slack channel and ask us to put our link in the chat for you!
9. **(Not in video)** A common thing to miss is that when you join a Slack workspace, you are immediately put on a 90-day Free Trial on one of Slack's paid plans (Pro or Business). I would recommend getting on the Pro plan when you can. As of October 2022, the Pro plan is $12/month and will get you on LTV Number's Slack workspace so we can communicate more efficiently!

# Insights Doc Overview

The Insights Document is your go-to document that the LTV Numbers team has prepared for you. This will be your FAQ doc, your notes doc, your benchmarks, etc. Use this however you please.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/VKbU7I-57kI>" %}

* This document serves as a living, breathing action plan for you based on the insights made possible by the LTV Numbers software.
* **Page 2** is where you can access the Insights Call recording and the Calendar Links for Success Calls with specific members of the LTV Numbers team.
* **Page 3** is where you'll be able to see your software login information. If you decide to change your password, do let us know so that we can always access your data should there be any problems.
* **Page 4** is a summary of key terms used within LTV Numbers and the software views within your account. It is important that you understand the key terms listed as different platforms define these terms differently.&#x20;
* **Page 5** is a quick summary of why tracking and understanding LTV is so important. It can help you focus on winners in the business, especially when we're looking at your data and offers over a long period of time.
* **Page 6** is a redirect page to our reference documentation and tracking link setups using UTM parameters. Head to the reference documentation if, let's say, you've added a new funnel to your account and want to add that into LTV Numbers, but we're not available to do so. The reference documentation should give you instructions on how to clearly navigate any unforeseen or new obstacles. As for the UTM parameters, refer to this if you want to know what UTM parameters are and if you want to set up UTM parameters. In it, you'll find a spreadsheet that can dynamically create appended links so that your traffic channels will contain UTM parameters.
* **Page 7** quickly summarizes the (soft) benchmarks for your company to hit in order to be able to being scaling your business. This is just the general trend that we've seen for our users over the years and it would be good to see your growth in this respect.
* **Page 8** is a summary of any important setup notes or data limitations to your account. Just keep this in mind when looking over your data, should yours be slightly unorthodox.
* **Page 9-13** will be the analyses made by our team and even hold strategies that we come up with during the Insights Call.
* **Page 14-16** will be notes from the Insights and Success Calls.

# Expectations and Agenda of Insights Call

Be sure that you understand how to do these after this. If not, let us know in that chat and we can guide you on how to specific tasks that are relevant to your business and how you want to view data.

On the Insights call, we will go over the following with you:&#x20;

* Your Insights Doc
* How to use the daily dashboard
  * Comparing reports between different time periods
* Journey Dashboard highlights
  * Understanding Frontend to backend conversion rate
  * Seeing an increase in backend revenue
  * Viewing Top 5 products and/or funnels with the highest revenues and their general customer journeys
* Analysis Page highlights
  * View LTV of top products or funnels that bring in the most number of customers
  * Consider LTV of products or funnels or traffic channels that you want to focus on
  * Understand how number of customers alive affects the accuracy or significance of LTV on the graph
* Path Analysis
  * Understand how LTV Gain column gives meaning to the “hotness” of your product or funnel or traffic channel
  * View how long it takes for a customer to come back and buy, on average
  * Build a customer journey based on products sold, traffic channels by which they’re sold, funnels on which they’re sold
  * For subscriptions, what is your retention rate? Any other purchases made on top of the subscription to help boost LTV? Can we create demand for other products, maybe they already exist within the subscription that we can sell separately if subscription is too much to consume?
* Customer/Payment Tab
  * Identify the top 10% of customers based on LTV, number of orders, etc.
  * Identify 30th-70th percentile of customers and figure out how to market to those people
  * Export and upload to create lookalike audiences in your ad platforms

# Daily Dashboard Quick Tutorial

This is a brief tutorial on how to use the Daily Dashboard.

* The Daily Dashboard is supposed to be used daily, hence the name. But you really only need to spend 5 minutes tops every single day here to check up on the health of the business.
* On the top left, you will see a comparison graph of how your business is doing ***today*** versus a certain date. The default date you're comparing with is yesterday and the default metric is "Sales Volume".&#x20;
  * You can change the date to compare today's metrics to any date in the past. However, you cannot compare two dates in the past.
  * You can change the metric to compare either "Sales Volume", "New Customers", or "Orders".
* On the top right, you will see all of the recent activity. Statuses included "Frontend", "Backend", and "Rebill".
  * Frontend and Backend definitions are in the Insights Doc.
  * Rebill is defined as a repeat order e.g. a subscription.
* If you scroll to the bottom, you can see reports for certain periods compared with other periods. In this case, you can mess around and change the date range of the Reports section to the
  * past day
  * past week
  * past 30 days
  * past 90 days
  * past year
* On the left side of the reports, you will see the sales (the $) and on the right, the number or orders.
* We break them down by frontend and backend so you can see whether you've made new sales today or whether your customers are coming back to buy from you.
* Scroll down some more and you will see the sales and orders being broken down and sorted by your top 5 products, funnels, and affiliates.

# Journey Dashboard Quick Tutorial

This is a brief tutorial on how to use the Journey Dashboard.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/u0zWSGItZhE>" %}

* On the top right, you can change the date range to the past 7 days, past 30 days, past 90 days, etc.
* Take note of the breakdowns at the top left. Go ahead and change "All" to "Platform", "Funnel", "Product", or "Affiliates".
* The graph right below the breakdowns shows the revenue brought in by **new** customers.
* Scroll down to the "New Customers" section and pay attention to the performance of your customers from when they enter your business. Good metrics to keep an eye on are:
  * Frontend to Backend Conversion Rate - the % next to the number of backend customers
  * Backend Revenue Increase Percentage - the % next to the backend revenue
  * Formula : Frontend Rev. + Backend Rev. = Lifetime Rev. for the certain number of customers (as shown in the lifetime column)
    * This is the lifetime revenue that is brought in by all of your **new** customers during this time period.
* Scroll down to the "New Customer Performance" section and you will see a massive card with an LTV Graph on the right. You will be able to see at a high-level what your top backend products are (amongst your **new** customers). Identify your top backend products for your new customers in that time period.
* When you break down your data by, let's say, product, these cards will show your top 5 products sorted by revenue. Identify the journeys that your customers are taking from one product to the next. We will analyze this more in depth in [Path Analysis](/onboarding-process/path-analysis-page-quick-tutorial).
* When you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see "Backend Summary". Do not mistake this with the backend products from earlier. "Backend Summary" shows you the backend activity for **all** (and not limited to new) customers within this period.&#x20;
  * Identify your top backend products made by **all** of your customers (new and returning) in that time period.

# Analysis Page Quick Tutorial

This is a brief tutorial on how to use the Analysis Page.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/l11stjxngts>" %}

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/NamF8nyWSW4>" %}

* On the top left, you can change the date range to the past 7 days, past 30 days, past 90 days, etc.
* Next to the date picker, you will see a "Filter" button. "Filter" is for when you want to see the stats for one specific platform, funnel, product, utm, or affiliate.
* Next to the "Filter" button, you will see a "Breakdown" button. "Breakdown" is for when you want to see a breakdown of all of your data by a certain category. Platforms, funnels, products, utms, and affiliates are breakdowns.
* Next to the "Breakdown" button, you will see an "Attribution" dropdown. You can switch the views to either see the data in terms of the customer, or in terms of the lead.
* There are 2 graphs shown below. By default, they are the Lifetime Value graph and the Revenue graph. You can switch these graphs to also show an Average Order Value graph, an Acquisition graph, or a Time to First Order graph.
  * Lifetime Value : shows you the change in lifetime value over time, and the number of customers who contribute to said lifetime value on a certain day.
    * Pay attention the LTV graph and understand the meaning of LTV progressing over time and how customers "alive" contribute to the statistical significance of LTV.
    * Switch the LTV view to LTR view and understand the concept of LTR as well.
  * Revenue : shows you the change in revenue over time, and the number of orders that contribute to said revenue on that certain day.
  * Average Order Value: shows you the change in average order value over time, and the number of orders that contribute to said average order value on that certain day.
  * Acquisition: shows you the change in New Customers, Repeat Customers, Total Customers, Payments, Orders, or Leads over time.
  * Time to First Order : shows you how many days it takes for your lead to make a purchase.
* You can scroll down below the graphs and see a table.&#x20;
* Spend some time in the table. View for your stats for a specific breakdown perhaps e.g. "Product". Switch between the "Overview", "Detailed LTV" and "Detailed LTR" views.
* Sort the table as you wish by the specific columns.

# Path Analysis Page Quick Tutorial

This is a brief tutorial on how to use the Path Analysis Page.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/NdWYrK-cETk>" %}

* In the Analysis page, you can access the Path Analysis by clicking on the three-pronged arrow in the table below.
* For simplicity sake, let's break down your Analysis page by "Product". Scroll down to the table and find your top product. On the left of its name, click on the three-pronged arrow next to it to dive into the Path Analysis of that product. You can do this for any breakdown.
* Now, you should see a banner on the top that says "Path Analysis Mode". Just like the Analysis page, on the top left, you can change the date range to the past 7 days, past 30 days, past 90 days, etc.&#x20;
* New buttons to note are:
  * Frontend Filter : it allows you to pick which frontend item (whether it's a platform, funnel, product, utm, or affiliate) whose backend activity you want to analyze
  * Attribution : same as Analysis Page
  * Backend Breakdown : it allows you to break down the backend activity by the same breakdowns as in the Analysis page.&#x20;
* **For example,** if you want to see what products your customers are buying after having first purchased Product A, then you would need:
  * Frontend Filter = "Product A"
  * Backend Breakdown = "Product"
* Below these buttons are only 2 graphs - LTV and LTV Gain Graph.
  * Pay attention to the LTV Gain Graph on the right. This shows you who is buying what and when.
* You can apply a "Backend Breakdown" by "Product" to see what products people are purchasing **after that first product** (which is the "Frontend Filter").
* If you want to see the traffic channels through which people are purchasing, you can apply a "Backend Breakdown" by one of the utms and see whether people are buying through a specific email sequence or autoresponder or whatever you've set up in your system.
* Below the table, you will see a bar that shows your "Frontend Customers", the "Frontend Revenue" brought in by these customers, their Day 0 and Day 90 LTV, and the "Lifetime Revenue" brought in by these customers (in the long run).
* Below that is a table. Pay attention to the number of customers that purchased the backend items and the amount of time it takes for them to purchase (on average).

# People Page Quick Tutorial

This is a brief tutorial on how to use the People Page.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/VJ4Z8BSgoFQ>" %}

* For simplicity sake, you can stay in the Customers tab. First, learn to segment your customers by LTV, Number of Orders, or when they purchased a product.
* e.g. See how many customers you have first without any filters. Then set your LTV to > $100 and take note of how many customers are in this segment.
* Then try adding the filter of Number of Orders greater than 1 and less than 4, for example. Take note of the number of customers in this section. Perhaps, change the date as well.
* Then once you're more comfortable with that, we want you to export a list of your highest LTV customers. It is a great way to create lookalike audiences.
  * A great option is to find the LTV price at which you can export \~1,000 customers.
  * Then click on the "Export" button, enter your email and it should be in your inbox in a few minutes!
* If you want to be slightly more adventurous, head into the "Payments" and "Contacts" tabs above and try to segment customers based on a product they've ordered.

* If you have multiple areas of focus, perform path analysis for each
* For each path analysis, remember that you can break down the backend for detailed insights into what is being purchased and when. (Using a product backend breakdown is usually the easiest way to do this.)&#x20;
* **Next step:** Use the backend sales data to figure out what your customers are buying next after they’ve bought the first product. Use this information to refine and optimize your customer journey and identify areas of opportunity.
* Refer to the [Path Analysis Page Quick Tutorial](/onboarding-process/path-analysis-page-quick-tutorial).

In the **People Page**, do these:

* **Campaign Source (utm\_source)** – Identifies the source of the traffic (search engine, newsletter, facebook, etc.)&#x20;
  * Values: search, newsletter, facebook, instagram, youtube, email, linkedin, twitter&#x20;

  * Values: email, blog post, podcast, social, retargeting&#x20;
* **Campaign Name (utm\_campaign)** – Used to identify a particular campaign being run (an email campaign sequence, or a Facebook ad campaign)&#x20;
  * Used to group links into an overall campaign. Name of a promotion (ie. indoctrination, chistmas\_sale)&#x20;
* **Campaign Term (utm\_term)** – Identifies any keyword terms used to refer to the traffic. Used mainly in pay-per-click ads where you’re bidding on keywords.&#x20;
  * Only relevant when source = search&#x20;
* **Campaign Content (utm\_content)** – Used to differentiate different ads which point to the same URL.&#x20;
  * Determined by nature of content in order to tell links apart that go to the same page&#x20;
  * Values: email1, email2, education, funny, entertainment, crazy\_jump

## WooCommerce Limitations

* WooCommerce does not collect UTMs by default&#x20;
  * Third party plugins such as "[HandL UTM Grabber v3](https://utmgrabber.com/)" can enable UTM tracking and analysis going forward. It is impossible to recover UTMs from before setup as they have not been saved.
* Refunds are applied at the order level so they are not attributed to any particular product. WooCommerce refunds will instead be grouped into a product named "WooCommerce Order Refund".
